Silicone rubber
In situations in which polyurethane is unable to fulfil the technical requirements and/or wishes of the customer, the use of a silicone rubber may be preferred. Silicone rubber is a synthetic elastomer which has good mechanical qualities. These enable the rubber to function with great flexibility and within an extreme temperature range of -60° to 250°C.
Silicone product applications
Due to all these strong characteristics silicone products are used often and in various dimensions and variations, and many applications. In general this is in circumstances ranging from large pressures on the silicone products, such as in machine building or aerospace, to the medical, pharmaceutical or food industry. Specific examples of synthetic products made of silicone rubber are gaskets, sealing rings, moulds, rollers, upholstery, etc.
Peritek produces a large variety of silicone products for various applications with hardnesses ranging from 12° to 80° Shore A. When necessary these are approved in accordance with the FDA standards. For standard silicone rubber systems, Peritek uses raw material suppliers such as General Electric, Dow Corning and Airtech International. For any other system with more specific requirements, Peritek develops custom systems in-house which will fully meet the highest quality requirements of the customer.
